Bobby Jindal

Bobby Jindal became the nation's first Indian American governor Saturday, outpolling 11 rivals in Louisiana and drawing enough votes to avoid a runoff election next month.
.
With about 90 percent of the state's nearly 4,000 precincts reporting, Jindal had 53 percent of the vote. His nearest competitor, state Sen. Walter J. Boasso, had 18 percent.
.
Louisiana holds an open gubernatorial election, with candidates of all parties competing. By drawing at least 50 percent of the vote, Jindal avoided a Nov. 17 runoff race with Boasso.
.
"Let's give our homeland, the great state of Louisiana, a fresh start," Jindal said to a cheering crowd at his victory party, according to the Associated Press.

Tightrope

A Chinese man has driven his pick-up truck more than 200 metres on two steel cables 20 metres high.
.
It took Liu Suozhu of Korla city, Xinjiang, 15 minutes to drive from one hill to another on the twin tightrope wires.

"I just wanted to do something special," he told the Tianshan Network.

As a safety precaution, the four corners of the truck were attached by four thinner cables to the two main cables.

Wow!!

A Chinese man had a 200-metre long wedding dress made for his fiancee.

A Ken says he originally planned to make the dress 2008 meters long, in tribute to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

"But it would have been too hard to make and to handle. So I changed the length to 200.8, and I hope the long train will bind us together forever," he said.

Ken, of Guangzhou city, placed the order with a local factory who took nearly three months to complete the dress, reports Guangzhou Daily.

"I was amazed to hear that he wanted such a long wedding dress for his fiancee, but I was quite touched by his sincerity," says factory owner Zhang Xiaoyun.

"It's 200.8 metres long, with 208 butterfly knots, and the tail is three metres wide. The whole piece weighs close to 100kg."

The couple had their wedding pictures taken at the Guangzhou Sunflower Garden, where workers spent nearly five hours helping them arrange the dress for the photographer.
